Turley “Contra Costa County” Zinfandel

Posted on 2008 08, 20 by pcook

While on my latest trip to Illinois, I took Kenny up to Chicago to see the town. We ate at Gibsons which was beyond awesome… The way a restaurant should be!
The wine list was extensive and I searched out the best deal on the menu. It was a 2006 Turley for $70.

I rejoiced and ordered it quickly. When the wine came out I was amazed at the color which was almost rust like an old wine would show. However this wine was young. The initial taste was very balanced and showed promise… I rejoiced again!

Wow! This wine is amazing! Berry fruit with blue hues… Very structured and very well balanced. Not too spicy perfect for a nice steak which I am about to have. Almost a dust element although I would probably say the terrior is coming through nicely.

Find it. Get it. Drink it.

P&C’s Welcome home from Napa

Last night we celebrated the return from Napa of Paul and Carol over a nice prepared meal, and much fine Napa cult wine. Paul and Carol shared some of their experiences and great pictures with us over the great Crawfish Etouffee that Diana made using my Brother-in-law Roy’s famous recipe.

Paul and I enjoyed this HUGE Linne Calodo ”Problem Child” Zinfandel from Paso Robles California a while back. Paso Robles cranks out some fine wines! Paso Robles boasts over 18,500 acres under vine, and over 40 varietals grown, and great wine/price value.

We are all here at Cellar-17 and thought we would use the new iPhone app from Wordpress. Write what we taste, as we taste. So, here it goes.

2002 Turley Zinfandel

Posted on 2008 07, 23 by jheck

The wine packs a 15.X alcohol content but it is not hot at all, their was more than enough fruit to cover it up. On the nose were green vegetables, and dry hay, and dark fruit. On the palate raspberry, and cherry with a nice spiciness on the finish. Full mouth feel, heavy weight on the palate with very long finish.

1999 Williams Selyem “Rochioli Riverblock”

Friday night, I was awakened by the sound of my wife screaming, because our house was backing up with raw sewage. What a “crappy” weekend I ended up having! I spent the whole weekend cleaning up from a few hundred gallons of sewage. I didn’t have time to drink wine this weekend, and my sniffer is probably off a little as well. :-) I decided to bring a review I did a while back on Corkd for you to read. Paul and I enjoyed this awesome Pinot Noir at his house one weekend about 5 weeks ago.
