2006 Dell Dotto Chinghiale Vineyard

Posted on January 26, 2009 by pcook

Had this wine with Carol and Anthony on Sunday afternoon.  The color of this wine was quite unique.  The color is more dark than you would think a Pinot should be.

The nose is also surprising in that the gaminess common to some Sonoma Pinot is not present.  However, what is there is a floral delight.  Full of bright cherry and a boysenberry jammy bouquet with some blueberry mixed in for good measure.

The mouthfeel is quite full and balanced, almost like a hint of coco on the finish.  Count Chocular comes to mind as the coco component really revs up on the finish.  Needless to say, “i love it!”  Find it if you can, I found mine at Specs downtown Houston.  I think it is great buy for the money and can last for the next four or five years.

Anthony thought this wine was a little too “not Pinot” for his taste, and yet he rates it 1 1/2 point s higher than I did…

Cheers to Del Dotto.

90+ Paul
92 Anthony
