1988 Salon Blanc de Blancs Champagne
As some of our friends know, we are making it a point to drink champagne on Sundays – usually followed by some whites and then a red or two and a dessert wine, of course… So, some of us have a growing affinity to champagne in general. When Bobby B. brought over this 1988 Salon, we all went a little goo-goo.
This older Champagne had a beautiful golden color with hazelnut, mossy oak bark, star anise, toasted almond, apricot and nice spices with smoke on the nose. Simply intriguing.
On the pallet the bright and bubbly fruit had nice acidity and a very nice smooth finish.
While I am sure this one is going to be hard to find, if you do happen to find it, be ready for something extremely unique and different.
